- IMEEC was launched through a Memorandum of Understanding at the G20 Summit in New Delhi (2023), involving India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, EU, France, Germany, Italy, and the US.
- It consists of two corridors: Eastern Corridor (India to Gulf) and Northern Corridor (Gulf to Europe).
- IMEEC is part of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII), a counter to China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
- The initiative aims to enhance trade efficiency, integrate energy and digital infrastructure, and strengthen supply chains.
- For India, IMEEC holds strategic importance by boosting connectivity, trade, clean energy cooperation, and maritime influence.
