- Practised law in Biratnagar; led the Koshi Zonal Bar (1988–90) and Biratnagar Appellate Bar (2002–04)

- Appointed Temporary Justice of the Supreme Court (2009) → Permanent (2010)
- Became Chief Justice in July 2016 – first woman to hold the post
- Retired in June 2017 after brief suspension over an impeachment motion

- Presided over key rulings, including conviction of Information Minister J.P. Gupta in a corruption scandal
- Authored her autobiography Nyaya (“Justice”) in 2018
