Why in News?
Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 2nd National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Chiefs in New Delhi on 16 September 2025.
- The two-day conference aims to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) by providing a key platform for discussion, coordination, and the formulation of a concrete strategic roadmap to combat narcotics in the country.

Background: The Modi government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drugs. In the year 2021, Amit Shah directed all states and union territories to set up Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTF). The first national conference was held in April 2023, which laid the foundation for coordination at the national level. |
Theme of the conference:
- Main theme: “United Resolve, Shared Responsibility”
- Objective: Emphasize the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in dealing with the threat of drugs.
- Promote coordination and cooperation between states, union territories and various government departments.

- Release of the Annual Report 2024 of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Launch of the online drug de-addiction campaign
