- Type: Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).
- Legal Basis: Replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005.

- Labor Rights: Includes strengthened legal provisions for unemployment allowance and mandatory penalties for delay in wage payments.
- Objective Shift: MGNREGA focused on “creating works”; VB-G RAM G focuses on “creating outcomes.”
