A Private Member’s Bill titled Right to Disconnect Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha by A. A. Rahim to address deteriorating work–life balance and rising mental health concerns due to “always-on” digital work culture.
Description:
Key Term: Right to Disconnect: Right of employees to disengage from work-related digital communication outside official working hours without adverse consequences.
Objectives:
- Protect personal time, mental rest, and recovery of employees
- Curb the “always-available” digital work culture
- Promote digital wellbeing and work–life balance
