At the India AI Impact Summit, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare launched SAHI and BODH.
Description:
Institutional Framework:
- Context: Launched in February 2026 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW).
- Alignment: Operates under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and the National Health Policy, 2017.
- Developer (BODH): Developed by IIT Kanpur in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA).
The Dual-Pillar Model:
The initiatives create a “Policy + Technical” guardrail system to transition India from experimental AI to population-scale deployment.

- Rural Reach: Reduces the doctor-patient gap (currently ~1:834).
- Pharmaceuticals: Shorter drug discovery timelines and more precise clinical trials.
