Jeevan Benny’s story is not about instant success or dramatic turning points.
It is about steady effort, learning from failure, strong family values, reliance on faith and never walking away from the goal.
His journey moves in clear phases — childhood, education, work life, UPSC struggles, APPSC comeback, and finally success.

1. A Family Rooted in Public Service
Jeevan grew up in Guntur, in a home where government service was part of daily life.
His father, Jeevaratnam, works in the District Police Office in Palnadu.
His mother, Mary Sudharani, is a Deputy Tahsildar at the Bapatla Collectorate.
His elder sister, Keerthana, is a surgeon.
From childhood, Jeevan saw how administration, policing, and public service directly affected people’s lives. This exposure quietly shaped his interest in governance and responsibility.
2. A Consistent Student, Not a Shortcut Seeker
- Jeevan was always known as a sincere student.
- He completed his schooling at NRI’s Indian Springs School, where he performed strongly and secured 9.8 CGPA. Teachers remember him as focused and disciplined rather than someone who studied only before exams.
- This consistency helped him enter National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli.
- At NIT Trichy, he pursued Metallurgical and Materials Engineering — a branch that demanded analytical thinking, patience, and problem-solving. Engineering strengthened his ability to think logically and systematically.
3. Corporate Life — And a Growing Interest in Governance
- After graduation, Jeevan joined Reliance Industries Limited at the Jamnagar Refinery as an Inspection Engineer.
- Professionally, he was doing well. The job offered financial stability and exposure to large-scale industrial operations.
- But the pull towards public service kept growing.
- Seeing his parents working in administration, Jeevan felt more attracted to governance, policy, and field-level impact than to long-term corporate life.
- Gradually, he decided to prepare for civil services seriously.
4. The UPSC Phase — Very Close, Yet Not Final
Jeevan’s UPSC preparation was long and sincere.
He cleared Prelims several times.
He wrote three Mains examinations.
He even reached the Interview stage in 2022.
For most aspirants, this itself is a huge achievement.
Yet, the final selection didn’t happen.
The following years were difficult. In 2024, he couldn’t clear Prelims . At times, Mains became the barrier.
Coming so close and falling back was emotionally tough.
But instead of quitting, Jeevan chose to rework his approach after joining La Excellence Core Batch, where he met right peer group and experienced mentors.
5. A Strategic Shift — Entering APPSC
Rather than depending on one exam cycle, Jeevan started preparing seriously for APPSC Group-I along with UPSC.
During this period, he also joined government service as a GST Inspector.
Balancing job responsibilities with preparation wasn’t easy, but it brought discipline and time management into his routine.
This phase marked his comeback.
6. Guidance That Strengthened His Direction
Jeevan didn’t prepare alone.
He received valuable mentorship from:
• Sahil George, IDAS
• Naveen Chakravarthy, IPS and Paidi Pradeep, AO
Their advice helped him sharpen strategy, understand exam expectations, and stay mentally steady during setbacks.
At the same time, his peer group at La Excellence Core Batch consisting Fahemeena Faiz( DSP, Telangana) , Naani, Keerthi and Rohit Abishek played a strong role. Discussions, test reviews, and mutual motivation kept preparation focused and serious.
7. Structured Practice That Made the Difference
Jeevan actively wrote the Group-I Mains Test Series at La Excellence.
This helped him:
- Improve answer structure and Coherence in Answer Writing
- Manage time better and cover maximum points
- Identify weak areas early thanks to La Excellence Mentorship
- Build confidence for the real exam
The Core Batch routine ensured regular study and revision, avoiding random preparation.
Instead of using many resources, he focused on limited material with repeated practice.
8. Interview Preparation That Paid Off
Through the La Excellence Interview Guidance Program, Jeevan worked on:
- DAF presentation thanks to the insights by Dr.Rambabu sir
- Clear articulation learnt during the Hackathons
- Administrative thinking and follow up feedbacks
- Handling situational questions in Mock Interviews
Hackathon sessions simulated real interview conditions and offered honest feedback.
Several areas discussed during training reflected closely in the actual APPSC interview, giving him confidence and clarity.
9. The Result — A Long Journey Finds Its Moment
After years of effort, close misses, working alongside preparation, and constant improvement, Jeevan cleared APPSC Group-I and secured the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
The success was not sudden.
It was built gradually — through learning, discipline, mentorship, and patience.
10. His Simple Belief
Jeevan summarises his journey simply:
“Keep working. Believe in destiny. Trust in God”
No shortcuts.
No dramatic formulas.
Just steady effort with faith.
Final Reflection
Jeevan Benny’s journey reflects the reality most aspirants live:
- Long preparation years
- Close failures which are inevitable
- Mental pressure that is close to trauma

- And eventual growth
He proves that success doesn’t always come quickly — but it comes to those who stay consistent.
From a service-oriented family in Guntur to the role of a DSP officer, his story is one of quiet perseverance and smart adaptation.
As he prepares again for future UPSC attempts, his life stands as a reminder:
