- The Deputy Chairman performs functions such as presiding over proceedings, maintaining order, deciding procedural matters, and ensuring smooth functioning of the House.
- The Deputy Chairman can be removed by a resolution passed by a majority of all the then members of the Rajya Sabha, with 14 days’ notice.
- A nominated member of Rajya Sabha (nominated by the President under Article 80) can also hold the office of Deputy Chairman, as seen in this case.
