What is the International Solar Alliance (ISA)?
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an intergovernmental organisation launched in 2015 by India and France at COP21, Paris, to promote and accelerate global solar energy adoption, especially in developing countries.

‘Towards 1000’ Strategy:
ISA’s flagship strategic framework focuses on four quantified global targets by 2030:
- USD 1 trillion mobilised for solar investments
- 1000 GW of solar energy capacity installed
- 1000 million people provided access to clean energy
- 1000 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions mitigated annually

- Members: 125+ countries
- Operational presence: 95+ countries
- Special focus: Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS)

1. STAR-C (Solar Technology Application Resource Centre): Capacity building; solar technology and skill hubs
2. Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Support: 21-day solar training funded by India (NISE)

4. One Sun, One World, One Grid (OSOWOG):
- Proposed by India in 2018
- Vision: “The sun never sets”
- Aims to interconnect regional power grids through a common renewable energy grid
- Enables cross-border transfer of solar and other renewable energy
