Context:
The Centre has set conditions for States/UTs to receive funds under Jal Jeevan Mission, extended till 2028.
- Launched in 2019 under the Ministry of Jal Shakti to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) to all rural households with 55 litres per capita per day (LPCD) of potable water.
- Coverage: Universal rural tap water supply across villages.
- Implementation: Executed by States/UTs through State Water & Sanitation Missions.
- Village Action Plans are prepared by Gram Panchayats/Paani Samitis.
- Monitoring:Water quality surveillance using field test kits and digital platforms (e.g., JJM dashboard, Sujal Gaon ID).
