- They function like airports/seaports, but for land borders; examples include Attari on India–Pakistan border, Petrapole on India–Bangladesh border, Raxaul on India–Nepal border and Moreh on India–Myanmar border.
- The recent government decision is to launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS), a digital platform to integrate land port operations.
