- Objective: Prohibits conversions through force, fraud, misrepresentation, undue influence, or allurement.
- Notice Requirement: Mandates 60-day prior notice and post-conversion declaration to authorities.
- Nature of Offences: Offences are cognisable and non-bailable.
- Complaint Provision: Complaints can be filed by the converted person or close relatives.
- Marriage Clause: Marriages done solely for conversion can be declared null and void.
- Punishment: Provides imprisonment and fines, with stricter penalties for women, minors, and SC/ST.
- Constitutional Basis: Linked to Article 25; propagation allowed but no fundamental right to convert others (Rev. Stainislaus case, 1977).
