About National Symbols of India:
- National Flag: Adopted on 22 July 1947; based on design by Pingali Venkayya (1921)
- Evolution: Bhikaji Cama unfurled the flag at (Stuttgart, 1907)
- Feature: Ashoka Chakra (24 spokes) replaced charkha in final design
- Law: Governed by Flag Code of India, 2002 → allows citizens to hoist the flag with dignity (all days, subject to rules)
- Display Rules: Must be rectangular (3:2 ratio); saffron at top; should not touch ground/water or be used as drapery
- Restrictions: Prohibits use for commercial purposes, costume, or uniform
- Protection: Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 penalises desecration
