The Congress criticized the Centre and Rajasthan governments for reportedly planning to redraw Sariska Tiger Reserve’s boundaries to reopen over 50 mining operations, warning it would be ecologically devastating and reverse years of conservation success that revived the tiger population.

Location:
- Situated in Alwar district, Rajasthan.
- Lies over the Aravalli Range, the world’s oldest fold mountains.
History:
- Formerly a hunting ground of the Maharaja of Alwar.
- Declared a natural reserve in 1955.
- Notified as a national park in 1979.
- Part of India’s Project Tiger since 1978.
Tourist and Cultural Sites:
- Famous for historic temples and forts: Pandu Pol, Bhangarh Fort, Ajabgarh, Pratapgarh.
- Lakes: Siliserh Lake, Jai Samand Lake.
Topography:
- Rocky terrain, scrub-thorn arid forests.
- Grasses, hilly cliffs, semi-deciduous woodlands.
Vegetation Type:
- Northern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest.
- Northern Tropical Thorn Forest.
Flora:
- Dominated by Dhok (Anogeissus pendula).
- Other trees/plants: Salar, Kadaya, Gol, Ber, Banyan, Gugal, Bamboo, Kair, Adusta.
Fauna:
- Apex predator: Bengal Tiger.
- Other mammals: Leopard, Sambhar, Chital, Nilgai, Four-horned Antelope (Chousingha), Wild Boar.
