The Union Environment Ministry’s Expert Appraisal Committee cleared the 2,220 MW Oju Hydroelectric Project on the Subansiri River near the China border, the largest in the basin, involving forest diversion, family displacement, and glacial flood risk assessments.

- Type: Under-construction gravity dam, run-of-river hydroelectric project.
- Location: On Subansiri River, at the Arunachal Pradesh–Assam border.
- Developer: National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) (state-run).
- Significance: Will be the largest hydroelectric plant in India upon completion.

- Dam height: 116 m (from river bed), 130 m (from foundation)
- Dam length: 284 m
