Why in News?
UGC has released a draft Learning Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) for multiple subjects, emphasising integration of Indian knowledge systems—from Bharatiya philosophy in commerce to temple geometry in mathematics and traditional beverages in chemistry—sparking debates over alleged curriculum saffronisation.
Description:
New Regulations (2025):
- Equivalence Certificate: Official document declaring a foreign qualification equivalent to an Indian degree/diploma.
- Issuing Authority: Now issued by UGC, replacing Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Objective: Smooth integration of foreign-returned Indian students & international students into Indian education & employment systems.
- Draft first floated in 2023, finalised after public feedback.
