About Sarvam AI: Based in Bengaluru. It received subsidised GPU access under IndiaAI Mission – Common Compute Programme
Key Objectives of Vikram:
- Optimised for Indian languages
- Addresses the scarcity of Indic-language training datasets and the poor performance of global models in Indian linguistic contexts
- Demonstrated English-to-Indian language translation capability
Technical Aspects:
(A) LLM (Large Language Model):
- AI system trained on massive text datasets
- Built using Transformer architecture
- Performs: Text generation, Translation, Question answering, Summarisation
(B) Parameters:
- Trainable numerical weights in neural networks
- Higher parameter count → greater representational capacity
- Vikram models: 35B & 105B parameters
IndiaAI Mission: A ₹10,300+ crore initiative providing subsidized compute (GPUs at ₹65/hour) to democratize AI development.
