From Constable’s Daughter to DSP: Rizwana’s Journey of Courage, Consistency, and Commitment

This is not just a success story.
This is the journey of a young woman who rose above limitations through belief, discipline, and resilience.

This is the story of Cherukuri Rizwana — an ordinary student who became an extraordinary officer.

Humble Beginnings in Ongole

Rizwana hails from Ongole town, raised in a home where values mattered more than comfort.

Her father, Hussain, works as a constable in the police department — a man whose dedication to service deeply influenced her childhood.
Her mother, Noorjahan, a homemaker, became the emotional pillar of the family.

She also has an elder brother, Riyaz, now a software engineer, who constantly encouraged her during difficult times.

Public service was part of her family’s culture — her father has seven siblings, six of whom serve in the police department. From a young age, Rizwana admired the uniform, the responsibility, and the dignity that came with serving society.

That admiration slowly turned into a dream — to become a police officer herself.

A Consistent Academic Performer

Rizwana was always a disciplined and sincere student.

She completed her schooling at Vignan Bharati, Ongole, passing in 2017 with a perfect 10 CGPA, reflecting her strong academic foundation.

She later pursued BA from Osmania University, graduating in 2022 with an impressive 93%.

Her journey showed that success was built not on shortcuts, but on consistency.

Choosing Civil Services with Clarity

Watching her father’s service every day shaped Rizwana’s ambition.

She didn’t want a routine career.
She wanted responsibility, respect, and the power to serve.

With her father as her role model, she chose Civil Services — with a clear goal of joining the police department as an officer.

Early Failures and Financial Pressure

Her path was far from easy.

She first attempted UPSC, but couldn’t clear prelims.
In 2023, she appeared for APPSC Group-I for the first time but fell short at the Mains stage.

At the same time, the family faced financial stress.

With her father’s limited salary as a constable and her brother still searching for employment then, resources were tight. Every expense mattered.

Yet Rizwana never considered quitting.

She considered failure as feedback.

Emotional Strength that Kept Her Going

Whenever doubt crept in, Rizwana found strength in her family.

Her mother’s unwavering belief and her brother’s constant encouragement became her emotional shield.

She also built a strong peer group that kept her focused and positive. Her friend Vinod Kumar (Excise SI) played a crucial role — motivating her, discussing concepts, and reminding her of her potential during low phases.

This support system became her invisible strength.

Turning Weakness into Strength

Rizwana openly acknowledges that she struggled with concepts and often battled self-doubt — especially after hearing failure stories from seniors.

Instead of letting fear dominate, she chose to confront her weaknesses directly.

She:

• Invested extra time in fundamentals – AP Economy, AP History
• Revised continuously with Smart Notes
• Practiced consistently by writing on paper
• Relied on standard books as a Base.
• Used technology like ChatGPT to clarify doubts and stay updated

Slowly, confusion turned into clarity.
Doubt turned into confidence.

Seeing APPSC Delays as Opportunity

Long delays in the APPSC exam cycle discouraged many aspirants.

Rizwana viewed them differently.

She believed delays were not wasted time — they were additional preparation time.

Rather than waiting helplessly, she kept strengthening her basics, improving answer writing, and refining her strategy.

This mindset gave her a major advantage.

The Turning Point: La Excellence IAS Academy

Rizwana’s preparation became more focused after she joined La Excellence IAS Academy.

Through the Group-I Mains Test Series, she practiced real exam-level questions that reflected APPSC’s pattern and expectations. The continuous answer writing practice trained her to think quickly, structure responses effectively, and present content sharply.

The academy’s structured preparation plan eliminated confusion and ensured systematic syllabus coverage.

What made the biggest difference was the honest and detailed copy evaluation, which highlighted real weaknesses — poor structure, missing dimensions, lack of depth — allowing her to correct them early.

The value-added material enriched her answers with current examples, analytical perspectives, and relevant data.

Gradually, she began to:

✔ Understand the examiner’s mindset
✔ Write higher quality answers
✔ Convert weak areas into strong zones
✔ Enter exams with confidence

Mastering the Interview Stage:

  • After clearing the Mains, Rizwana joined the La Excellence Interview Guidance Programme.
  • Under the mentorship of Dr. Rambabu sir, her DAF was carefully analysed and refined, transforming her background into strong discussion points.
  • Her personality responses improved significantly — she learned how to answer calmly, logically, and confidently.
  • The Hackathon sessions and Mock Interview simulated real interview pressure, sharpening her thinking speed and articulation.
  • By the time she faced the actual APPSC interview, she felt composed, prepared, and confident.
  • She later shared that the guidance made a visible difference in her performance.

Mental Health: Her Secret Weapon

Rizwana firmly believes that preparation is incomplete without mental well-being.

Her daily morning walks helped maintain both physical fitness and emotional balance.
They gave her clarity, calmness, and renewed energy every day.

The Dream Realised

In her second APPSC Group-I attempt, Rizwana:

  • Cleared Mains
  • Excelled in Interview
  • Became Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)

From a constable’s daughter to a gazetted officer — achieved through consistency and courage.

Rizwana’s Message to Aspirants

“Hard work in the right direction, combined with smart work, always leads to success.”

And her heartfelt advice:

Believe in yourself no matter what happens.
Just keep going.

From Ongole to DSP — this is not luck.
