Context
Recently, NITI Aayog launched the Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport (PACT) at the 5th e-FAST India Summit 2026 to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission trucks. The Summit also introduced the ZET Marketplace to facilitate business, financing and charging partnerships.
Explanation
- e-FAST India (Electric Freight Accelerator for Sustainable Transport–India) is a NITI Aayog-led platform for accelerating zero-emission freight, particularly medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
- PACT is a flagship initiative under e-FAST India that aggregates freight demand from shippers, Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) and other stakeholders.
- Aggregated demand can provide greater certainty to manufacturers and investors, improving the commercial viability of electric medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (e-MHDVs).
- It connects shippers, LSPs, vehicle manufacturers, financiers and Charge Point Operators (CPOs).
- PACT will help identify freight corridors, improve demand visibility and facilitate corridor-based charging infrastructure.
- The ZET Marketplace connects stakeholders for business, financing, technology and charging partnerships for Zero-Emission Trucks (ZETs).
- Freight electrification can reduce oil dependence, transport emissions and logistics-related air pollution, while strengthening energy security.
