- Polavaram Project is a multipurpose national project located on the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh, aimed at irrigation, flood control, and hydroelectric power generation.
- Polavaram is also significant in inter-basin water transfer, linking surplus Godavari waters to deficit Krishna basin regions.
- The installed capacity of the hydropower component is 960 MW, consisting of 12 units of 80 MW each.
- Large hydro projects in India are classified as renewable energy sources (above 25 MW since 2019 policy change).
