The way ahead:

  • Reform water governance, focusing on river basin institutions.
  • Establish specialized institutions to address environmental concerns.
  • Restore interconnectivity of water bodies like lakes and wetlands.
  • Plan infrastructure for future growth, managing resources effectively from the start.
  • Implement comprehensive water management, including lakes, aquifers, rainwater, and wastewater treatment.
  • Encourage development in other regions to restrict migration.
