The next-Census of India will conclude by March 1, 2027. It will be held after a gap of 16 years, the longest delay in Independent India’s history (last Census was in 2011).

Census-Process in India
- Official Notification: The government has yet to announce the commencement date for the-Census exercise.
- The official notification regarding the-Census and the dates for the two phases is expected to be published in the official gazette tentatively on June 16, as per the provisions of the Census Act of 1948.
- Constitutional Mandate: The Constitution of India mandates the conduct of a-Census, ensuring that population data is collected systematically and regularly to inform policy-making and resource allocation.
